The Return Is Coming!

Since suffering a season-ending knee injury October 2014, the salsa dancing Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has been doing all that he can to get back on the gridiron. This slot WR will be the same player who has nearly 4,000 yards in 55 games and averages 15 yards per catch come the 2015 season. And Giants fans agree when he gets back, yes he will be one of the best again in the NFL. “When healthy, Cruz is nearly impossible to defend, given his electric playmaking ability and superb route-running skills,” NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks wrote. “If he can return to form following a season-ending patellar-tendon tear, Cruz could re-emerge as the No. 1 guy on this list. The Giants take advantage of his explosive skill set by routinely getting him the ball quickly on an assortment of catch-and-run plays.

Best Endzone Dancer with a Salsa Twist

Did you know that Victor Cruz dances the endzone salsa dance. This rising football star, has it all. In case you don’t have all the facts about this 25 year-old half-black, half-Puerto Rican New York Giants wide receiver, here’s what you need to know. Raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Cruz played football at the University of Massachusetts and was drafted by the New York Giants in 2010. In his rookie year with the Giants, he caught three touchdown passes in a single game against rival New York team, the Jets, before being sidelined for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury. Cruz never stopped making a name for himself in the game. A rising star that is a blast to watch, especially if you are a New York Giants fan, which I am. You dont want to miss seeing Cruz as he celebrates scoring six by doing the salsa and his signature touchdown dance!

Jason Myra, 34, a teacher at New York-style salsa at Dance Manhattan on W. 19th St.was quoted in the New York Times when asked about Cruz's endzone dance

“Salsa is primarily a dance that’s done with a partner, but when a dancer breaks off to do a freestyle, open dance like Cruz is doing they call it ‘shines’ because it’s like your moment to shine and show off,”

Shows off His Dance Moves

New York Giants fans know that the Best dance move in the end zone comes from wide receiver Victor Cruz. ‎"I looked at the mass of Eagles fans, standing together, above the end zone. They were booing me, swearing at me, and clad in all shades of green. I figured, Ah, why not? And without much second thought, I broke out the very same salsa dance my grandmother taught me on East Twentieth Street twenty years before. Step, step, step. Move your arms. Shake your hips. The salsa!”- Out of the Blue

To quote New York Giants fans on Cruz' facebook page

" Here's to several more salsas at the Eagles expense! Lots more!"

Eli Manning's 74-yard TD pass to Victor Cruz was the 5th TD pass of 70+ yards in his career. He's tied with Charlie Connerly for the 2nd-most 70-yard TD passes by a Giants QB since 1940. Earl Morrall has the most, with 5.

Injuries to the New York Giants Wide receiving squad are not enough to stop the Big Blue Wrecking Crew, as this 2 year slot reciever surely steps up to the task to help the G-Men to a big NFC rival win.

Victor Cruz Scores

Cruz gets his first NFL touchdown with 49 seconds left in the first quarter. He breaks a Kurt Coleman tackle, then jukes, making two Eagles defensive backs run into each other before completing a 74-yard jaunt into the end zone.

The Endzone Salsa Dance soon to be known as the "Silk City Salsa" is born.

Cruz Scores Again

Cruz gives the Giants their first statement victory of the season. With 8:07 remaining in the fourth quarter, he outjumps "shutdown corner" Nnamdi Asmoughato haul in Eli Manning's pass at 1-yard line before falling over the goal line for six. The G-Men take a 21-16 lead. Cruz is fired up, but doesn't Salsa this time. It doesn't matter. The connection goes 28 yards.

Welcome to the NFL, Victor Cruz. The best endzone salsa dance and you can

Victor Cruz reflecting on his path and his performance in Week 3 against the Eagles:

“It really hasn’t set in yet until I start talking to people on the phone and stuff like that. It’s definitely one of those moments where you kind of sit back and you look back at the game and you’re like ‘wow’, you actually played well and you did that against a rival opponent, and you played for the Giants, and you grew up in the area, and it’s just one of those surreal moments that you kind of look back and it’s definitely one of the moments you want to tell your friends and family about in the future.”

Cruz on Eli Manning

"I thanked Eli after the game for having that confidence in me and throwing that ball on the second touchdown. That took a lot of trust in me. A lot of time I spend watching film with him and looking at different things, it just proves that hard work does pay off. I am glad that we got together like we did yesterday."

Though the G-Men lose this game Cruz gives the Giants some hope with his style of play. Watch him as he creates a whole lot of momentum when he makes a one-handed, juggling, 68-yard touchdown snag of a catch with 12:37 left in the fourth quarter. At the time, the Big Blue were trailing 19-14. Manning sends up a wing and a prayer and on a wing Cruz catches it. Going up with two Seahawks defenders, the ball deflects off Kam Chandler's hand and smack into the glorious hands of Victor Cruz.

Cruz dances from there and again the Giants fans get to see the return of The Salsa. The Giants take the lead, but only for a short time.

Lucky us who bleed blue we are watching history in the making. Watch it

"He is a big play guy. He is learning while he plays but he demonstrated once again the unique ability to get himself open and make a play for our team when we needed one. He did a nice job."

Cruz on Eli Manning

"It’s good to know that Eli trusts you and trusts that you are going to be at the right place at the right time. That is what I try to do. I try to do that every time I’m out there and every time I’m running a route. If I’m open, then hopefully he can hit me, and I know if I’m not open, then somebody else is open. He is going to hit one of our receivers."

New York City Showdown

Tension in NY was building and words were flying. In regard to Darelle Revis, Cruz said that "teams aren't really scared anymore" and then he added "He's got to earn his money this year." (Though Cruz said he was angered that the media "kind of switched around" his words to make it seem as though he were "talking bad about Revis.")

Revis had responded: "I don't even know who this guy is."

We all know now that Revis sure knows Cruz's name now.

Cruz sets pair of Giants records

In in 2 years so far Victor Cruz says that his favorite touchdown this season is his 99-yarder against the Jets in Week 16. Cruz basically won the game against the Jets with a sensational 99 yard play. There have only been 13 99-yard TD catches in NFL history and this one saved the New York Giants' season. And of course we were all treated to the endzone salsa dance, though this one was the hardest one to watch. I bleed green as well as blue.

Record Breaking Touchdown

With the G-Men backed up in their own end zone and trailing the New York Jets 7-3 late in the first half, Cruz's catch which you would think would only go for 10 yards turns out to be a record breaker. For 89 yards later, Kyle Wilson nor Antonio Cromartie could not bring this salsa dancing slot receiver down. With 2:12 left the Giants took the lead. Cruz fires the ball at the back wall and then goes into Salsa mode.

Victor Cruz after the game:

"It happened so fast, I didn't know who it was, I don't know what I did," said Cruz, who added that it was his first 99-yard play at any level. "I just tried to jump over whoever was there and just go to the end zone.

The G-Men roll on to victory from there.

Giants win NFC East

The 74 Yard Cruz Catch

New York (9-7) won three of its final four games for their 65-year-old coach and earned a wild-card game at home next Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons (10-6) after the week 17 win in Dallas. The win is somewhat ironic for this Jersey Boy rooted for Americas Team growing up (while living so close to the Meadowlands) and this is the team he scored his last touchdown on, sending childhood favorite NFC rival packing to go home, and Cruz cruizes on to the playoffs. Thats right Victor Cruz grew up a Cowboys fan. And his last TD of the season broke his ex-favorite team’s heart and ended their season.

The NFC East title game opens up with a 74-yard catch from Cruz putting the G-Men up on the board with 4.58 remaining in the first quarter. 3rd down and short, on a third on one out of the gun rolling left, you could see the exasperated look on the face of Rob Ryan (Dallas defensive coach) Ryan.Cruz is quoted as saying

"I caught it and when i turned upfield I saw Akim giving me a great block and i saw the sideline wide open so I contiunued on the sideline" ~Victor Cruz

This was the 5th rec touchdown of 65 plus yds this season which makes it the most in NFL since Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsh had 6 TD's in 1951.

For this, Giants fans were lucky to see his most meaningful endzone salsa dance yet.

Victor Cruz: Eli, We got your back!

The 2013 season has begun and going into week 3 the New York Giants have yet to win a game. Sunday Night Football opened the NFL 2013 season with the Cowboys hosting their division rivals. The Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants in Dallas for the first time since Cowboys Stadium opened. Manning threw three touchdown passes to Victor Cruz and four overall, and he had New York in position for a comeback victory despite the flurry of mistakes. And the 2nd game of the season featured the Manning Bowl. The battle of the brothers was won by Peyton. The battle of brothers was in the end was decided by each team's supporting cast. So it is apropos that Eli's number one receiver spoke out in the days leading up to game 3 when the Giants go on the road to play the Panthers.

Cruz was quoted as saying :

"He knows I’m always here. He knows the whole team is always here to back him up and say the right things to him and keep him up. We understand the type of player that Eli is. Two games aren’t going to make or break our season."

On Sunday, the Giants play at Carolina (0-2) in what safety Antrel Rolle labeled a "must-win game" yesterday during an interview on WFAN. The Giants will need a mistake-free Manning to win.

NY Giants' Victor Cruz turns down opportunity to appear on ABC's Dancing With the Stars on January 4, 2012. His touchdown salsa draws the attention of ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ but the Giants wide receiver won’t be doing his endzone salsa dance on their stage anytime soon. Right now IMHO he has better sights to set his eyes on. But dont take him off your dance card as something tells me this is one NFL wide receiver to be watching to take the dancing floor stage in the future.
