The 5 Best Anti-Aging Vitamins For Young Looking Skin
By wavegirl22
We learn from a very young age that the right amount of vitamins is important for total body health. And as we grow older they play an ever increasing role in fighting the signs of our skin aging. Vitamin rich supplements support the body internally, but can their benefits translate when they are applied on our through skin care treatments. Generally speaking, vitamins applied topically is the best way to get vitamins to work at defending the aging process smoothing out the signs of wrinkles.
Vitamins for women must include natural sources of antioxidants such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries and grapes. Green tea is also a good source of anti-oxidants with anti-aging properties. Your diet will show in your skin, but you need more and that is where moisturizers containing Retinol are something you need to use. Strivectin is one of the best, read on and see what will work the best for you.
Vitamins
There are 2 types of Vitamins
Water Soluble
These vitamins dissolve quickly in water. These vitamins are not able to be stored in our body and must be replaced everyday. B Complex vitamins and Vitamin C are examples. If you take too many of these orally they will be flushed out from your system.
Fat Soluble
These vitamins dissolve in fat and the excess is stored in the liver. This is why you do not need to take these every day. Vitamin A, D, E and K all stored in fat tissues from a few days to six months. These can accumulate and become dangerous.
Vitamin E Moisturizes
Vitamin E
The Skin Defender
Vitamin E oil prevents the formation of wrinkles by blocking free radical damage making this anti aging vitamin one of the best skin defenders. By boosting collagen production which is the connective tissue that keeps skin elastic, Vitamin E oil rids skin of wrinkles by supporting new skin cell growth and speeding up cell regeneration.
Also known as Alpha-tocopherol and Gamma-tocopherol so products containing these words are important to know when looking for a topical moisturizer with Vitamin E.
Vitamin E does not easily dissolve in water. Taken internally it is particularly good at helping to prevent oxidant damage and protect cell membranes, but it is not too be overdone. You really get enough of this if you take a multi vitamin. Oreal has one of the best moisturizers that is proven to softer and aid in skin looking its best.
Vitamin E Topically
When skin is the main target Vitamin E works better topically. Attacks stretch marks. For incredible results StriVectin is a must have creme for stretch marks. One of the best Anti-Wrinkle Cream in my opinion.
Because Vitamin E is a powerful fat-soluble antioxidant it protects lipids from oxidizing which helps skin retain its moisture, It is in many skin care products that claim to minimize scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and burns.
Vitamin E is found naturally in foods, and can also be used as a supplement and topical oil. Vitamin E helps to keep your skin tight and firm when used in a moisturizer.
Vitamin E is also important in the formation of red blood cells and it helps the body use vitamin K.
Vitamin C in SkinCare
When vitamin C is used as an active anti-aging skin care ingredient it is found in several different forms includin;
- L-Ascorbic Acid
- Vitamin C Ester
- Ascorbyl Palmitate
Ole Henriksen Vitamin C Collagen Booster
Vitamin C
Ascorbic Acid
Free Radical Fighter
This water soluble is commonly associated with warding off the common cold. It strengthens the immune system and as an anti oxidant it is needed for tissue growth. It is good for collagen formation and wound healing and it also helps to keep our bones, teeth and gums strong and healthy. If you could get enough of this vitamin orally it would take a few hundred thousand units, which, at some point your body would ultimately just flush it out.
Topically
This vitamin is probably the best free radical defender of all the vitamins. Known to be able to smooth rough patches and to help fade brown spots. It is good at stimulating collagen. The variety of anti-wrinkle products with vitamin C is staggering.
Hyaluronic Acid
in conjunction with vitamin C products to assist in effective penetration. Hyaluronic acid (also known as a glycosaminoglycan) is often touted for its ability to "reverse" or stop aging.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid
has been referred to as a "universal antioxidant" because it’s soluble in both water and oil, which permits its entrance to all parts of the cell.It is known to boost levels of other antioxidants, such as vitamin C.
Flavonoids
Vitamin C is better absorbed in the presence of flavonoids.
Obagi Professional C-Serum
Vitamin A
Retinol
The Wrinkle Reducer
This fat soluble vitamin helps our cells function properly and its essential for proper vision and bone development. Often prescribed as a acne solution because of its ability to decreease he size of the sebaceous glands and the amount of oil produced. Vitamin A compound is the first antioxidant to be widely used in nonprescription wrinkle creams.
Topically
Vitamin
A in its synthetic form is called retinol. Many products on the market
contain retinoids. It is very helpful in skincare targeted at skin
disorders like acne and psoriasis. It increases the cell turnover so it
is also good for skin treatments for brown spots, rough dry patches and
wrinkles. When it is applied to the skin vitamin A is known to promote
collagen production. Vitamin A will help your skin not look dull and lifeless. It is also found in tretinoin, tazarotene and palimate.
Vitamin B3
Niacin
The Hydration Booster
Vitamin B3 is also referred to as Niacin. It is necessary for proper protein and fat metabolization in the body and plays a role in the digestive system function properly. It is also helpful in maintaining healthy skin, synthesizing hormones, and repairing tissues. The word Niacin is a combination of two words 'nicotinic acid' and 'vitamin'. Like vitamin C, niacin is water soluble.
Topically
This vitamin helps
the skin retain moisture by boosting the production of fatty acids and
ceramides, the two main factors responsible for protecting and
fortifying the skin barrier. It is also a milder alternative to
exfoliators like glycolic and salicylic acids when used in skin care.
It also benefits rosacea as well as sun damage.
Deficiency In Vitamin K
Increases Bruising
If you are taking a blood thinner such as Plaxil or Wayfarrin you may become deficient in vitamin K, resulting in your blood not clotting as well. This can bring about some more blood leaking out with leaving you with unsightly bruises in cases that would not normally result in bruising. These type of bruises are not painful. At the onset of one appearing you may feel a pich, kind of like a fly bug is on you, and then you look down and it is there. The more purple (darker) the bruise is the longer it will take to clear up. The more reddish in color fade faster.
Best beauty tip is that when you feel the tinge rub a cream with vitamin K on the bruise twice a day. A topical cream with this vitamin will help your to break down the blood while at the same time reabsorbing it. The act of rubbing a cream helps speed the process.
Vitamin K Mositurizers
Aging Bruises
Vitamin K
The Dark Circle Diminisher
An anti-oxidant that has been proven to be a blood clot regulator that is easily absorbed through the skin. This fat soluble Vitamin K plays an important role in how the liver modifies proteins so that they can bind calcium. This process of proteins binding calcium is important in the signal cascade that leads to the clotting of blood and the retention of minerals in bone. Drugs such as warfarin and plaxil prevent blood clotting by preventing the activity of vitamin K in the liver.
Vitamin K for Bruising
Part of the kidneys function is that is helps to aid in the bones growth and repair. It is also the main factor in why your blood clots when you get cut. If you take a multi vitamin chances are you are getting enough Vit K into your system. As we age our body stops communicating these functions and we need to reawaken the lines. With such break throughs in the cosmetic industry there are many great productsare taking g the benefits of using this vitamin in a moisturizer is beneficial to skin .
There are two types of vitamin K: one is found in plants, and the other one is found in bacteria. Vitamin K is named for the German word “koagulation” because of its function in assisting blood clotting. If we don't get enough antioxidant protection, either from our own body's production, dietary sources, or from topical antioxidants free-radical damage continue.
Very good antioxidant sources include green peas and carrots. Some other excellent sources of vitamin K include:
- Brussels sprouts
- Spinach
- Swiss chard
- Green beans
- Asparagus
- Broccoli
- Kale
- Mustard greens
Topically
Like it does orally Vitamin K can also control blood clotting when applied to the skins surface. When applied topically it helps to diminish dark circles around the eyes, spider veins and broken capillaries. It is also believed to help the bruising after surgery. It is also known to help scars fade.
Skin Bruising
Beauty Tip
Vinegar Make a compress and soak it in vinegar to alleviate the bruise and swelling. Avoid getting it in the eyes.

Amazing Hub. I guess your day has started and I would have a lot of reading to do now. I have bookmarked this hub and I would refer it to my mom and her sisters. They are very particular about their skin and would really like this information.
One thing that really amazes me about your hub is they not only contain solid information about the subject they are so pleasing to the eye. Makes one ask for more. I think when this challenge gets over I would have to ask you to personally mentor me for this. Excellent hub. Rated up!!
