Learning How To Promote on Line - 60 Day Challenge Return Wave Log

60 Day Challenge - The Return
There is no Challenge more challenging than the challenge to improve yourself.
When I began the 60dc back in April there were so many things I wanted to learn about promoting my writing. All I really knew was that I knew little or nothing about making money on line. In my first 60dclog I stated things that I had read about that I thought I needed to learn in order to promote my Hubs. And to be honest I was anxious to understand exactly what these goals of mine entailed.
The one thing I was sure I knew was that I wanted to start to make money with my writing online. Knowing the words to put down was easy, but what I needed was to understand how to actually implement these things.
Why Am I Taking the 60 Day Challenge Return
This is a no brainier for me. First of all working with so many amazing others kept me on my toes and kept me to a level of accountability. Had that not been in place I never would have, could have completed 30 hubs in 30 days. When I was behind there was Shaz, Enlightened Soul, Frogdroping Susana S and prettydarkhorse pushing me to go on.
When I didnt understand something the same rang true. . there was always someone who would explain and explain again until the light bulb was turned on.
Best motto of the last challenge from shazwellyn, "United we stand, Divided we Fall" Keeping this as our slogan and keeping the focus as a team we will succeed again.
What I Learned from the 60 Day Challenge
Keyword Hell
Finding the right keywords was a major motivating factor. This is still something I still have much to learn about, and it is probably something that I will always need to keep learning about. Taking the challenge I found out that there were many tools out there to help me with this task. Digging for gold is not easy, but the feeling of getting it right, well numbers don't lie and when you start to see dollar signs you know you are on the right path.
Backlinking - Rinse Wash and Repeat
Another term that before the challenge was just a term to me. One I had no idea of even where to begin. Since the last challenge I feel confident I have learned a few of the 'tools" one needs to use in order to go being successful with online writing. I now have some form of a formula that I use. I know it is working for my traffic is up and if I look at my Hub Metrics I am amazed that my Incoming Links for my 60dc challenge Hubs have anywhere from 3 stars to 5 stars. But I know there is still so much more I need to be doing with and getting backlinks. Taking this challenge again, I just know that this skill will be honed and toned a bit more.
How to Set up a Blog
Learning the different stages of setting a blog up can be quite daunting but with the challenge it was explained and implemented in a way that was not as painful as I thought. Finding a niche, choosing a platform, making the blog attractive and creating blog posts were all mapped out in a way that anyone can understand. And as my niches were already laid out in the 30 Hubs it was a smooth and pretty easy process. I still have much to learn and practice with this and so the 60 day challenge return is just what the doctor is calling for:)
My Goals For The 60 Day Challenge - The Return
To pay for the new mac I just purchased:) Last challenge in the middle of the challenge my computer went haywire. Apple had it for a few days and even though they were able to fix it, it is slow and lagging and so recently I purchased a new one.
Bottom line is that I want to make money on line. I want the freedom that working for myself brings. I have found I am so passionate about this that I want the words "do what you love to do and the money will come" to ring true.
Its hard work, but I enjoy it and I enjoy the incredible people I have come in contact with.

60dc2 Week One
Monday August 23, 2010
I have published one Halloween hub towards my goal of completing he 60dc2 towards my 30 hubs needed to complete the challenge. The last few days I have been as busy as a beaver. This is my second time taking this challenge, so I am feeling like there are many new members on the team that could use a little challenge love and so I have been communicating with many of the new challengers. I have tried to meet and greet all the new 60dc2 challengers and let them know what it means to be on this team and what components are important to set into place. I am hoping that my communication has been helpful to them, for I can remember those first few days of the last challenge when keyword research, tags and rss feeds were things I had just heard about.
Yes this challenge is all about writing, but it is also about learning the steps to take in taking the writing to the audience out there. Targets must be hit. With a deadline to meet the pressure is builds. And all this can be quite overwhelming and daunting.
Ok off to get some hubs completed and to answer some comments. Must set time management into place!
Tuesday August 24, 2010
Today, I tried to apply some time management skills and it worked! Completed and published a Hub on Moroccan Oil for Hair. Feels good to know I only have 28 Hubs more to complete!
I have also added my stats, something I forgot to do during the last challenge on my Hub log. I wish that I had last go around. It will be interesting in 60 days to see my progress in numbers.
And so onward and upwards, back to the editing:)

Blueprint for Living Life On Your Own Terms - Lack of Time is Actually Lack of Priorities. Tim Ferriss
Saturday August 28, 2010
And so week one comes to a close and it has been a week of light bulbs going off. Some brighter than others. So many things to know but more important to understand. The first 60dc challenge, I went through the motions and picked up most of what we were doing, but this time around as I am working on my thirty hubs I am feeling more and more comfortable using the online tools that have learned. I have one "cheat sheet" that I have all the information ready to grab as I need it (RSS feeds, share the love pic, spreadsheet with hubs that I want my new hubs to link to) and I called this file "My Hub Ingredients". Having this set up, makes for the next part of creating my hubs painless and organized!
"Emphasize Strengths,
Don’t Fix Weaknesses."
Tim Ferriss
I have almost 15 hubs in the works. I have done all my keyword research and most of my products have been chosen, so now it is time to do my layouts and publish. I have also found that it is important as I write the content for my hubs to have the summaries written, as well as a few blurbs ready to cut and paste.
Buy Tim Ferriss's book here ---------->
If you have not read this book, I bought it this week, and realized many things. One of them is that . . . . "Life doesn’t have to be so damn hard. It really doesn’t."
"Find your inefficiencies to eliminate them and to find your strengths so you can multiply them." Tim Ferriss quote from "The Four Hour Work Week"
Week 2 The Return of of the 60dc2
Successful people in every field gather together.
They seek out people who do what they do and who can communicate intelligently about their shared endeavor. And that is what the 60 day challenge is all about. I have found that the return of this challenge has put me into contact with some very extraordinary team members. Meeting up in the upper class room has been a true inspiration. It has also been filled with the extra added bonus of some fun!
But as time management is my personal theme this time around, It is quite addicting meeting up with many of my mates and I need to be careful of the time spent playing and not hubbing. Time is money so there is so much fun you can allow.
And so as the 2nd week of the challenge is underway, I want to take a moment and thank Sunforged. His ability to teach, motivate and inspire team members is what drives the success of the 60 day challenge. He is the leader and I like to think of him as the coach.
So to end this update to 60 day challenge wavelog, I will close with the words of probably the greatest football coach of all time, Vince Lombardi . . .
"The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.”
And forge on is what I am doing.
60dc2 what a return!

Hi Shari, I am glad to work with you again, I am cheering you up and hope objectives will be me. Thank you, Maita
What an excellent Hub. Your content, format, images and the banner breaks (I don't know what else to call them) are perfect. Excellent read. Keywords to this day still boggle me but I must be doing something right.
Best of luck with the challenge.
Shari - what courage! what commitment! what dedication! You are a brave woman. If you can write 60 hubs, the least I can do is comment on each one. Enjoy your new Mac and go get 'em, tiger!
Replied to your RSS feed problem. It should work once you implement. One thing that would be more helpful for us all on RSS feeds would be to create a unique single word tag like '60DC2hubs'. That way it would be less likely that problems could arise for those that don't normally use tags for their RSS feeds. These silly '+' signs instead of spaces is not intuitive. My view is KISS - Keep It Simple St---d.
Anyway, in response to your welcome comment I will be checking up on you to make sure you keep to your commitments - watch out you have a stalker ;-)
Good luck! With a double Mac (and some cheese on top) you should have no problems hitting your targets.
Just noticed the RSS feed is now functional. Now you know how to do it for Tags.
Stalking is a speciality of mine ;-) But I only do it for special people who I find to be motivational, inspiring and just downright mentally beautiful. A free spirit gets me every time.
Your hopes are my hopes for the next 60 days (or so). Let's see if we can get that Mac paid for in the blink of an eye ;-)
Oh Shari... I am blushing with my mention, but I agree, it is essential to glue together as a team - united we stand hon! I am over the moon to be working with you again! Lets get the party going!!! hehehe
Going to have to put more time and thought into what I am doing. What you and others are writing about this challenge is interesting. Hope to be a part of the next one!
Wavegirl, this is well laid out. I look forward to reading your sports hubs, and being your teammate in this challenge.
Namaste.
Great looking hub log WaveGirl! Looking forward to the challenge with ya!
The Wave is rolling again!!! 60dcII, it's like SBXLV, couldn't resist a Super Bowl reference. Can't wait for your NFL Hubs... the timing of this challenge is perfect for ya. I can tell your psyched. I wish you nothing but the best... Good luck! Ciao.
I am impressed that you already have a good plan in place and I know that is important. It is great the way other hubbers helped you the last time. Best of luck in the challenge.
Wavegirl, I am truly glad to get a chance to work with you on this challenge... . . .but what is this Jets stuff?? Your boys almost made me ashamed to be from the Greater-Cincinnati area after lasts years playoff game, but that was last year. This year is the year of the Bengal.

Shari I know without doubt you will be achieving your goal and then some. You have the drive, the ability, the creativity and you are such a tremendous help an inspiration. I know I will learn so much from you and everyone else. Once again thanks for your support and getting me to do the 60DC. It is time for some...
Shari, you have definitely scored a touch down with this hub. Well executed and extremely eye appealing!
Still have to get that Market Samurai. I have been tossing the idea up between Micro Niche Finder and MS. You and Izzy have both given good plugs for it. Still the cost scares me.
The last 60dc was a hoot wasn't it? I am stoked over this one even more.
Good-Luck and will be talking to you! Holler if you need any help!
I meant to mention. Sorry I cannot get into the NFL banter with you. I am from Michigan and you know what the Lions are doing as I write this. :-(
Wavegirl - Good luck in the challenge! Seems like you learned all the things the first time around that I need to learn now. I can't wait to hear that you've paid off your Mac!
I had always planned on creating a "What I learned from the 60DC Hub" - something that outlined all the great things I learned from my fellow participants and the stuff I learned incidentally like installing and modifying a forum ..aaargh!!! , anyways, one thing that you always reminded me of, was that a Hub didnt have to LOOK like a hub, your layouts and use of graphics have always been powerful and refreshing.
This has impacted me in my own hub creation process.
and it goes without saying,,glad to have you back on board!
Hey Shari, here I am and I know how happy that makes you feel. So, I came to your hub log, to see what you had to write. I found that you will be pushing yourself, yet again, to fine tune what you've already learned. Not to mention, paying for the new computer you have. :P As you already know, it's my pleasure to be working side by side with you, and should definitely prove to be interesting, if you know what I mean. :) Nice job on the hub log and I'll be chatting with you later. :P
Wave...you're up and going!!! Sweet! Good luck and I'll definitely be your little bit...
side kick. :)
I'm learning a lot on this challenge already just looking at how everyone has produced their logs, great log...
Good luck in the challenge...
Great hublog. I have taken up the challenge too and I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I have a lot to learn about the business side of promoting my hubs because I too WANT and NEED to earn a decent amount of money to stay away from 'jobs' in the outseide world. lol.
"do what you love to do and the money will come" I had read that phrase before but had forgotton about it so thanks for reminding me. It is a powerful saying and one that I know eventually will apply to me with the help and encouragemnet of the Challenge team here.
wavegirl22, I am so looking to working with you. Best of luck! jane
Good luck Wagegirl. as a verteran of the challenge you will be a great resource for the rest of us just beating this bush for the first time. I look forward to the pearls of wisdom you provide.
Great hub and good luck on the challenge. Hopefully I can learn some things along with you as I keep tabs on your progress. I suppose I should take the challenge as well and learn that way. 9 months and less than $10.00 total isn't exactly making money online!
Your log is awesome! I'm looking forward to doing the challenge with you and getting to know you! :)
Hey Wavegirl - I love your personal picture at the top of your hub. What are you using Photoshop? I am so happy to be starting this journey with members from the previous 60 day challenge. You all rocked the last one. Think this is going to be a lot of work but fun too. O.k. Surf's up, so let's hang loose and break a leg(at least I think that's a positive surfer's saying). LOL! :)
Thanks for sharing what you learnt with us. May I say, that's a nice Mac. Good luck for Round Two of 60 day Challenge. Go wavegirl, Go wavegirl. :)
very interesting hub thanks for sharing
I really love your Hublog... soo much better than mine. hehe. Best of luck to you!
-K. Alto
It is going to be a lot of fun to work with you on this project. Your positive energy and enthusiasm are obvious, and we should all have a lot of fun learning and earning together. :)
Well, I am back for more Wavegirl and I have great hope that I will learn what eluded me last time! This is a great 60 day challenge hub log and I am curious as to how you create banners like the one you have at the top! That's one thing that really makes hubs and blogs look professional, something I think any of us who don't know would really be glad to learn (hint, hint) if someone did a hub about it. (hint, hint)
Great luck in achieving all of your goals.
Nice hub log wavegirl. I hope you achieve all your goals on the new 60 day challenge.
Hi wavegirl. Do you live near the sea then? Good luck on 60dc.
You have a great style wabegirl. I suspect I will be back to learn more.
Im glad to see the Tim Ferriss Book had a positive impact. If anyone makes it down this far, they should swing right back up to WaveGirls suggested Books and pick up a copy of the 4 hour work week too.
BTW, Your smiley is now officially included in the 60dc forum
Considering my appetite for reading there are very few authors/speaker who actually intend to be inspirational or motivational that dont quickly sicken me with their saccharine, wishy washy words. Tim Ferriss was an unique find for me, mostly because he has a very solid background of actually acting on his concepts.
Thanks for the encouragement this hub brings. I am always looking for way to motivate myself in writing.
Hey Wave, how ya doin'? It's that guy from da Bronx. I have a way for you to challenge yourself in this area. My book, EYES OF EMERALD is coming out shortly(possibly today). It's all done, and my partner just has to put it on Amazon & Kindle.
If you are an Amazon Affiliate you can recommend it to anyone. If they buy it, you get 4-6% of the list price. Also 15% of the price goes to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. You can see with a partner, I'm not going to get rich. I promised my father I would get his storey told, I'm keeping my word.
See what your media savyness can do on this project. That's a challenge from one New Yorker to another.
Is that really your pic? Lookin' good, crack tight suit. HA! H
I am impressed with all that the 60 day challengers have accomplished. I especially liked your idea about having a cheat sheet ready as a tool before starting to write hubs. Voted up.
