How To Make Lip Gloss for Girls with Vaseline
By wavegirl22
Do you have little girls in
your life that love to play dress up . . . you know the ones who are
always snooping around your make up bag for a little fun? Well here is
a homemade lip gloss you can make with them . . its easy and its fun.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
-
Shallow Pot
- Vaseline
-
Kool Aid
- Spoon
- Small bowl
- Microwave
WHAT TO PUT IT IN
All you need is some sort of canister. I used an old container I had from an eye cream that I had saved, but you could use many different things. I prefer a shallow container but you could use an old 35mm film canister. Look around, I am sure you have something to do this with. Anyway find the container and put it aside.
THE BASE
THE FLAVORS FOR LIP GLOSS
THE COLOR
Next you will need 1 packet of pre sweetened Kool Aid or any other brand of a flavored powdered drink. There are so many different flavors to choose from, let them go wild with this. . this is the fun part and the tastiest too!
Step One
First thing you do it put some Vaseline into a bowl. The amount of the Vaseline will determine how much lip gloss you will make.
Step Two
The Vaseline must be warm while you are mixing it together with the Kool Aid. Microwave the the Vaseline until it melts and becomes gooey, but you do not want it to boil.
Step Three
Remove the Vaseline when it's warm and gooey and then you need stir it so that the heat is evenly distributed and there is no clumping. I like to warm it up in 10 second intervals. You dont want it to boil or get too hot. Bad for the mix and worse for the microve oven! Put the petroleum jelly back into the microwave for another 10 - 20 seconds, remove it and then stir again.
Step Four
Here comes the fun part when you will add the Kool Aid. All you will do is sprinkle the powder into the Vaseline mixing and stirring it together. The more Kool Aid, the darker the lip gloss will be. Also the more Kool Aid the more tart the lip gloss will be. Adding a little sugar is always an option.
Step Five
Now pour the mixture into your container that you have put aside. Make sure that before you pour it into the container you have a good consistency and the color is to your little ones liking.
Step Six
Refrigerate the containers for about one hour before using.

Cags . .you never get dry lips??? I bet you do .. :) not only will this homemade lip gloss make your lips moist but it tastes so good !!!!
What an ingenious and lovely idea. Now, who needs expensive store versions of lip gloss, infused with chemicals? Love it and will try it with my daughter.
anginwu . .it is the best and so much fun to do with daughters! And they are so proud of the final product. Even better is that we all have petroleum jelly around .. but who wants to keep in in your pocketbook. . this way you make some put it in a neat little container. . and you are off! Let me know how it comes out. Thanks for stopping by :)
it tastes so good..... i lov it!!!!! thanks for all the ideas....... im going to have the best spa party!!!!!
Thunder - It is a great idea for a party! And you instantly have a party to send the guests home with, and one they will surely use and love! Thanks for stopping by!
I never thought of using Kool-Aid like that!
I do tend to make make-shift lip-glosses using the stubs of my favourite lipsticks - you know where there's just a bit left in the base of the tube. I scrape it out into a little pot, add vaseline and mix with a brush before applying. Your method of using heat to melt the mixture to give an even mix/colour is so much more professional.
Daisy - i was in the cosmetic business for too long not to come away with a few little tricks ;) But I see you are as ever resourceful as I am in with your little pot of trick!!! Please tell me you are staying in the challenge. . from what I see you talking about in the forum you know so much that we can all learn from. . .Anyway whatever you decide I can still follow you around whereever you write!!!
easy to follow steps, I am cheering you up my friend Shari and I am checking about your new hub, Take care, Maita
pretty - so glad you stopped by:) Hoping your challenge is going great. .I cant wait till the next phase!!!
