The NY Jets Game of Football
Football is a series of collisions, with test of strength, skill and will, big guys clearing the way for fast guys, with countless contest of individual courage and toughness, until one side collectivey wears down physically or surrenders mentally. The last few years under coach Rex Ryan has had its ups or downs. When Ryan first came to Gotham City I was over the roof excited. After many years of my fan estrangement, I thought this was the coach to bring back the green and white for me. The 2010/2011 football season was exciting and full of hope. But 2012 wore me down. Tebow came to town and rained on my parade. To make matters worse there was not much #Tonetime as Santonio Holmes was lost for the remainder of the 2012 season after sustaining a Lisfranc foot injury in week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers, and was eventually placed on injured reserved. As of today the New York Jets will open training camp Thursday July 25, 2013 without wide receiver Santonio Holmes. Even worse for a fan like me was the loss of the best cornerback in the NFL. Darrell Revis Revis suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligamen and would be out for the remainder of the season. He was placed on injured reserve on October 12, 2012. "Revis Island" was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on April 21, 2013. So, 2013 will be without Tebow (#goodthing) #Tonetime still on the PUP list and Darrell on his Island now in Tampa playing the NYJ on opening day. The good news is the Jets signed on Braylon Edwards. Hoping him and Sanchez find the magic they once had.

Read Rex Ryans Book
Play Like You Mean It
Whether you Love or hate the New York Jets coach, Rex Ryan, one thing is for sure, he can't be ignored. So if you love the game of football "Play Like you Mean It", this is is definitely a football book that every gridiron fan will love. In this very easy to read, light heated, and fun book Rex tells you the good the bad and the ugly on and off the football field
Here you have an inside look at the personal and professional life of one of the most charismatic coaches to ever stand on a sideline. It may come from the fact that Rex Ryan one who boasts one of the most intriguing pedigrees (son of Buddy Ryan), and he is also one of the smartest. When he coached the Baltimore Ravens defense, his football players dubbed him the "Mad Scientist."
I want to also add that "Play Like You Mean It" isn't just a sports biography, it is also inspirational leadership book. And as inspirational-leadership books go, this one may be better than most because just like Ryan he backs it all up just as the saying goes “if you're going to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk” and Rex Ryan clearly does that on the football field and off.

Not a Season of Failure
"Our goal for next year, I got news for you: It won't change. And it'll never change, We're gonna chase that Super Bowl. We're gonna chase it until we get it, and then we'll chase it after that again."
~Rex Ryan following the AFC Championship loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers
Rex Ryan and his team of Jets did not accomplish what they set out to this year but as a Jet fan I can tell you it was a step in the right direction.Had the Jets spoiled their 9-2 start and missed the playoffs, which they
were at risk of doing, then 2010 would have been a failure. If they'd
lost to a banged-up Colts squad in the first round of the playoffs, that
would have been a failure. Had they been blown out for a second time in
two months by the arch rival New England Patriots in the divisiaonal round, that would have been a failure.
New York Jets Moving on to AFC Championship Game 2011
Rex Ryan Talks the Talk, Walks the Walk of Winner
January 16, 2011
The trash-talking New York Jets reached their second straight AFC Championship Game with a stunning 28-21 win Sunday over the New England Patriots. Rex Ryan out coached Bill Belichick, and Mark Sanchez outplayed Tom Brady to put the Jets on the verge of the Super Bowl again. Tom Brady played pretty poorly and he was sacked five times and finally threw an interception (He finished the season with a league-record streak of 335 passes without a pick).
The NY Jets defense certainly performed very well against the NFL's best quarterback and MVP-hopeful Tom Brady. The Jets took round one, the Patriots took round two, and when it all counted, the Jets were able to limit the productiveness of Brady, and deliver the knockout punch. The Jets combined for a total of five sacks on Tom Brady, and limiting his little foot soldiers (as Welker likes to put it) to under 100 yards receiving each. The Jets flat out dominated the Patriots on Sunday night.
Tom Brady, who finished with 299 yards on 29-of-45 passing.
"I certainly wish I played better, We made too many mistakes to win."
Rex Ryan said to team in the locker room after the stunning win,
"Maybe everybody else never believed, but we believed. We're moving on. Same Old Jets, back to the AFC Championship. The only difference is this time we plan on winning."
Sanchez is now 4-1 in the playoffs (all on the road) and had a remarkable 127.8 passer rating against the Patriots. The 2nd year sophomore quarterback threw three touchdown passes and completed 16 of 25 passes for 194 yards and touchdowns to LaDainian Tomlinson, Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes.
The-seeded Jets will travel to No. 2 Pittsburgh January 22. CBS will broadcast the AFC Championship game between these 2 teams at 6:30 pm. It will be a rematch of the Week 15 matchup that ended with a Jets win. The Jets set a franchise record for road victories in a season with their eighth, one more than last season's team.

Santonio Holmes
This flight boy caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez with 10 seconds left, lifting the New York Jets to a stunning 30-27 comeback victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday.
The Texans, devastated by a last-play loss last week to Jacksonville, dropped to 4-7. Their season is in disarray because of miserably poor pass defense.
The Jets came into the game with the 20th-ranked pass offense in the NFL, but when the Houston Texans' defense devoted itself to stopping the Jets' fourth-ranked run game, the Jets made enough plays through the air to win. Sanchez, the 24th-rated passer in the NFL (80.5), threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns.

Jets Win Over Titans
New York Jets in a stunning win handed the Texans Titans (4-6) a heartbreaking loss. The Titans also fell short last week on a desperation heave as time expired at Jacksonville.
Mark Sanchez
In only 25 games as an NFL starter the New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has reached the 300-yard mark in two of the past three games (he had 299 in Cleveland). In this thriller of a game Sanchez went 22 for 38, throwing for 315 yards, with three touchdowns and one pick.. The Jets QB is not only one of the sexiest NFL, Mark Sanchez is becoming Mr. Clutch. In this stunning win he orchestrated in 39 seconds a drive that went 72
yards down field for the winning score. Sanchez completed two passes to LaDainianTomlinson and then a perfectly
thrown bomb to Braylon Edwards (four catches, 86 yards, TD) with 16 seconds remaining.
LaDainian Tomlinson
(36 yards on 12 carries) also didn't have a great day on the ground. He left the game briefly in the fourth quarter after banging his elbow, but he returned to make two key receptions on the game-winning drive.
"I spoke to our team last night about mental toughness. That’s what this stretch of games is all about. When you win two overtime games on the road for the first time in NFL history, then come back and have to play two games in five days, there are not too many teams tough enough to handle it, but we are. Obviously, we’d like to be able to win these games a little easier than we have been, but we keep finding ways to win, and that’s what championship teams do. Again, if I have to apologize for it every week, I will all the way to the Super Bowl."

The Jets (6-2) can count this 23-20 overtime victory — which gives them a perfect 4-0 road mark — as another example of 1) Make enough mistakes to lose, but 2) Have enough talent to overcome them. It was good enough for a 6-2 record, tying them with the Patriots and four other teams for the best mark in the N.F.L. in week 9 of the 2010 season.
Helping to set the stage for this Overtime comeback was the return of Revis Island. Cornerback Darrell Revis opened the game with an outstanding PD on a deep ball for Calvin Johnson. And even though Detroits QB Matt Stafford completed 20 of 36 for 240 yards, Johnson was held to one catch for 13 yards.
Rex Ryan quote after the win ;
"We just hung in there and didn't stop believing," said head coach Rex
Ryan. "Detroit, I know they've got two wins and all that but they're a
good football team, just like Cleveland's a good football team. But we
were so resilient. We just kept hanging on, kept believing. We thought
momentum was coming our way."

Mark Sanchez and Jets offense leave too many plays on the field in embarrassing 9-0 loss to Packers."We just weren't good enough today," a frustrated Rex Ryan said after the Halloween Day loss at home.Sure, it's only one game, but for a team with dreams of a championship parade, this was a stunner. Not so much that the Jets (5-2) lost to a good, but banged-up Packers (5-3) team. It was the way it went down that was disturbing.

Its that time of year when football comes alive. So what better to talk about then how to play like a Jet. The main objective for the 2010 season for the NY Jets will be to be 23 minutes better than last season. For that is how close they came to playing in the Super Bowl in Rex Ryan's first season. In the AFC Championship game they blew a third quarter lead and gave the Colts their ticket to Super Bowl XLIV. Follow all the games for 2010 with this New York Jets season tickets.
New York Jets beat the Minnesota Vikings 29-20
Monday Night October 11, 2010
Brett Farve of the Minnesota Vikings became the first NFL player to throw 500 touchdown passes and for 70,000 yards, but two early fumbles against his former team led to two field goals that helped put the Vikings (1-3) in a 12-0 hole.
Farve connected with the newest Viking Randy Moss from 37 yards out late in the third quarter to cut the Jets' lead to 12-7. Less than 5 minutes later, Favre hit Percy Harvin for a 34-yard touchdown. Favre's two-point conversion try was intercepted. It was a bittersweet return for Randy Moss who was traded by the New England Patriots was back in his Vikings uniform, it is from where his football career started. Moss had four catches for 81 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown grab late in the third quarter.
And the New York Jets are in first place in the AFC East as they are now 4-1. And thanks to LaDainian Tomlinson who had another solid game for the Jets, with 94 yards rushing on 20 carries.
NYJ v BUF 10-03-10
October 3, 2010 Week 4 NFL
The NFL saw Vintage LaDaninian Tomilinson today
LT ends 100-yard drought as Jets blast Bills. Today this running back scored his 47th, 100-yard plus game as a pro football player and the fans in NY could not be happier that this old man suits up on Sundays as a Jet. Man oh man, did he play like one. He is now seventh on the NFL's rushing list, by passing Tony Dorsett. He did it on a 5 yard run at the end of the first quarter in todays game at Orchard Park, New York. The Jets played the Buffalo Bills and creamed them.
LT2 started todays game with 12,698 rushing yards. He needed 42 to pass Dorsett. when the first half was over in todays game Tomilinson finished with 89 rushing yards, and that put the Jets in the lead 17-7. By the time the game was over LT2 had 2 Touchdowns abd 155 yards from the line of scrimmage.
Dustin my man Keller scored caught 4 passes for 28 yards and had 2 Touchdowns and continues to show us the magic that is between him and Mark Sanchez. Keller is up to 5 touchdowns putting him on pace for a tight end record. Keller is set to have a breakout season showing the NFL that this is one every week WR1.
Shout out to the Jets Quarter back, Mark Sanchez - he now has 8 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions after he threw 20 as a rookie just a year ago.
And from what I hear . . .. Revis is going to be ready to play next week .. .
Ground and pound . .thats what its all about.

NEWYORKJETS 2010 SEASON PREVIEW
Can the Jets win their division like they did in 1998 and 2002 . . .With the way the Jets are shaping up the question is, can Mark Sanchez bring back home the super bowl ring like Joe Namath did so many years ago? Its been a long and hard road for NewYork Jet fans being that the last time the New York Jets advanced to the Super Bowl was in 1968.
The NY Jets won’t surprise anyone this year. With what should be an explosive offense, this is a Super Bowl caliber team.
NY Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan
Brian Schottenheimer
Rex Ryan
NY Jets Head Coach
Rex Ryan was named the head coach of the New York Jets on Jan. 19, 2009. Rex Ryan is a breath of fresh air for New York football after Eric Manginis approach to the game. I for one have not been this excited about Jet football since the days that Bill Parcell was in NY. He makes the hard decissions and Ryans decision to keep Brian Schottenheimer as the offensive coordinator is and was a no brainer.
We all know Brian Schottenheimer is on the verge of following his father to the NFL head coaching ranks but for the 2010 season the Jets are lucky to have him for at least one more year.
Jets Assistant Coaches
It is all about ground and pound. The Jets have three strong coordinators in Brian Schottenheimer (offense), Mike Pettine (defense) and Mike Weshoff (special teams). You can meet the rest of the newyorkjets coaches here.
Rex Ryan is beloved by his assistant coaches. And there are good reasons why. I read that when the Jets beat the Chargers last January in the playoffs, Ryan sent the game ball to former Charger coach Marty Schottenheimer, father of Jet assistant coach Brian, who had been unceremoniously fired from the Chargers.
NY Jets Mini Camp Over and Where is Revis
NEW YORK JETS
QUARTERBACKS
Mark Sanchez
He threw 12 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 15 starts. That is reflective on his rookie "growing pains", expected in a first NFL season. And he also showed alot of potential in his first season as a quarterback. Winning 2 playoff road games before the newyorkjets lost in the AFC title game.
If Sanchez can build on his post season performance, the Jets just may be the team to beat.
Kellen Clemens
In the quarterback position he can be called on to win a game or two in relief but he doesnt have the talent or experience to be any sort of long term position.
Joe McKnight New Jet Rookie
NY JETS
RUNNING BACKS
After letting Tomas Jones go to Kansas City puts Shonn Greene on the roster as the starting running back for the 2010 Jets. LaDainian Tomilinson was signed on as the back up. The question everyone seems to be asking is if LT has anything left . . . time will tell but my bet is on LT and the amazing synergy I am hoping to see from these guys. Joe McKnight was picked up in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. And he formally signed with the New York Jets on June 22, 2010. Could McKnight be a triple threat? Maybe . . all he has to do is learn the nuances of the slot receiver position. We may see him possibly, as a kick returner as well.
The NY Jets Flight Boys Take Off
NY JETS 2010
RECEIVERS
These guys have such a tightly knit group, that they even gave themselves a nickname, If you hear a reference to the "Flight Boys" you will know they are talking about the wide receivers but one secret one. The way the team is coming together for the 2010 season this might be the most improved area. Braylon Edwards(WR) will be back (and as long as he uses the box of stickums I sent he will be as smooth as ever). along with playmaker Santonio Holmes (WR), Jerricho Cotchery (WR) and Dustin Keller (TE). All four if used correctly will be great ammunition for Mark Sanchez.
Update Jan 21, 2011 - Holmes, Edwards and Cotchery each have posted one 1,000-yard plus season in their careers and each is capable of making big plays against man-to-man coverage if a team blitzes or only commits to only a single deep safety.
Santonio Holmes #10 has proven to be an absolute steal. The guy was suspended the first four games of the year and still had three game winning catches this season and the nicest catch of the playoffs so far against New England. He is a big play machine and still one of the most clutch players in the league.

Darrelle Revis New York Jets Best Defense
NY JETS
DEFENSIVE BACKS
Rex Ryan likes to use alot of defensive backs so it is no wonder that the Jets finished number one is pass defense last season. For the 2010 season it looks like Ryan decided to revamp the secondary even though they were the best. Any secondary with Darrelle Revis (CB) has to be good, now add a few more team mates that should thrive in the man to man scheme like Antonio Cromartie (CB) first round pick on Kyle Wilson, Jim Leonard at Safety with new Browns castoff Brodney Pool . Unlike his predecessor Kerry Rhodes (Arizona Cardinals), Pool isnt afraid to hit but he may lack Rhodes range in pass coverage.
Personally I can not wait to see Darrelle Revis meet up again with Chad Ochocinco of the Cincinnati Bengals in week 12 of the 2010 NFL season. Last year the Bengals receiver was quite amuzing when he was talking trash to Revis on Twitter. First, Ochocinco tweeted that "I'm coming to the big apple to give NY what they've never seen, an escape inmate gone wild on Revis Island... try and cover me!" He later praised the defender, describing him as "good ass f%$K!!" Excuse my french but I can't wait till the 2010 New York Jets season.

I first heard the good news that Darrelle Revis will be back for 2010 when Adam_Schefter tweeted that "Darrelle Revis is scheduled to be at the Jets training facility tomorrow to sign the deal. Numbers likely to be a team, but not NFL record."
@Revis24 tweeted on Twitter September 6 To my family, neil, & john I love u guys I'm comin home baby!!! Revis Island LET'S GO. The about 20 minutes later he tweeted "it not has only been hard on u guys but it has for me too. I just want to tell yall that I'm sorry for this process.
Whatever went down, all that I know is that I am overjoyed to see Darelle back in a Jets uniform. And confirms how awesome Rex Ryan is!
